Thank you for visiting www.face-reflexology.co.uk
I called my website http://www.face-reflexology.co.uk because I believe that facial reflexology is a relatively new concept for the public in this country, and I especially wanted to draw attention to the positive relaxation benefits of Facial Reflexology (Sorensensistem™) as a “complete complementary holistic therapy”.
On the following pages in this website I have tried to include some useful information about the history, development, and benefits of Reflexology and Massage which are the other Holistic Therapies that I am fully qualified and insured to practice. I have also included (with permission) a very good article on “stress” written by a close friend and colleague.

Facial Reflexology (Sorensensistem™)
Facial Reflexology (Sorensensistem™) is a relatively new type of holistic reflexology treatment carried out on the face; the client is fully clothed and lies on a treatment couch. Facial Reflexology (Sorensensistem™) was invented, researched and developed by Lone Sorensen López. Treatments are now available in 15 countries worldwide by over 3500 Facial Reflexologists using the Sorensensistem™.
What is Facial Reflexology and the Sorensensistem?
Facial Reflexology (Sorensensistem™) is a complementary holistic therapy combining body maps on the face
which Lone Sorensen learnt from the South American Mapuche Indians, together with Chinese and Vietnamese Body Maps, Acupuncture & Acupressure Points, Oriental Energy Meridians, Western Reflexology and Zone Therapy. In essence this therapy is a combination of the wisdom of ancient medical traditions with modern neuro-anatomy to help improve the underlying imbalances which often manifest in our bodies in the form of physical, mental and/or emotional problems. It works in a way similar to foot reflexology by stimulating nerve points relating to organs and gentle massage which helps bring the body’s Chi (energy) back into alignment and balance.
"Reflex therapy can be defined as a reflex technique base on the neuro-biochemical action that is caused by stimulating an area or a point, and which has both a general and /or partial effect in the entire organism."
Lone Sorensen López
Most people find Facial Reflexology (Sorensensistem™) beneficial for deep relaxation as each treatment can release endorphins that promote and calm the mind thus inducing a deep state of relaxation helping to relieve many of the symptoms of stress and fatigue. By coincidence, this technique appears to have a rejuvenating and uplifting effect on Client’s faces as the blood is stimulated and lymphatic drainage helps to give them a naturally glowing complexion. Facial reflexology is a safe and gentle holistic treatment that is suitable for women and men of all ages and physical conditions.
What does Facial Reflexology Involve?
A course of treatments is advised and benefits often continue for some days after the treatment. The 1st appointment takes approximately 1 1/4 hours, which includes a brief outline for the
treatment and the client’s confidential health history information. The client is fully clothed and lies on a treatment couch. Follow-up treatments each take about ¾ hour. Clients are recommended not to wear cosmetics as the treatment uses either an aromatherapy face massage cream or natural oil for the stimulation of specific points and zones on the face. As with all Reflexology and Massage therapies, clients should be aware that there may be certain reactions apart from the initial feelings of well-being. The most common temporary reactions are:
Tiredness,
Tickling Sensation,
Temporary Feelings of Discomfort,
Dizziness,
Nausea,
Frequent need to urinate,
Strong smelling urine,
Aches,
Shivers or
Perspiration. After the treatment it is advisable to rest for 10-15 minutes and drink plenty of water, as these temporary signs or reactions naturally show that bodies eliminatory processes are responding to the treatment. It is important to recall and give feedback information about any signs of discomfort or good feelings of wellbeing at the next appointment so that the Facial Reflexologist may adjust the treatment plan to suit the individual’s specific needs.
